In Honolulu, Hawaii, the 2021 Diamond Head Classic features eight college basketball teams, headlined by 9-2 BYU.
An annual Christmas event in college hoops, the Diamond Head Classic was first played in 1982.
The format has changed over the years, but the tournament always features two games on December 22.
It is known for producing high-level competition, often with an international flair because of its location in a city near to Asia and Oceania.
BYU comes into the eight-team event with the highest ranking in the KenPom ratings at No. 25. But in the NET ratings, a tool used by the NCAA tournament selection committee, the Cougars are unranked.
The Cougars are 5-1 in their last six games and have won eight of their last 10 games.
Their only loss was to No. 7 Ohio State, a game where BYU was down 22 points in the first half before cutting the deficit to nine with seven minutes left. The Buckeyes closed out the game with a 13-1 run.
